Edwards Architecture became the first architects practice in the North East to be assessed by Ocean Certification for compliance with PAS 1192-2:2013 for information management in construction management. In addition, they now hold an accredited certification from Ocean Certification to ISO 9001:2008.
“The team at Edwards has put a tremendous amount of work into developing Business Information Modelling (BIM) to enhance their relationships with customers and suppliers. In conjunction with this they have a management system that meets the requirements of ISO 9001:2008. With these standards, Edwards have a robust system for ensuring that all parties can access a common data environment and have confidence that the information held is up to date” quoted David Robinson, Managing Director and Lead Auditor from Ocean Certification.
Andrew Bowkett from Edwards Architecture has collaborated closely with main contractors during the development and implementation of PAS 1192-2:2013. This has ensured that at all stages of development the customer-supplier interface has been evaluated and tested. BIM is now being used as a core business tool to deliver projects more efficiently.
The UK Government has set a target of reducing the cost of public sector construction projects by up to 20% by 2016. Achievement of level 2 building information modelling is a strategic part of the Construction Strategy to achieve this saving. Edwards Architecture is now well placed to help in delivering this target.
