Norman ReeveChairman of the Board of Governors
The Board of Governors represent the interests of Ocean clients and Norman’s role is to Chair the Board Meetings, ensure due process is followed and that all actions taken are impartial and in the interest of clients. Board members are chosen based on their Quality, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety knowledge, organisational competence and managerial experience.
Martin ThornleyChief Executive Officer / Lead Assessor
Martin is extremely popular with our clients or so they tell us. He graduated in Chemical Technology, and spent 25 years with British Gas in senior management roles. He was Regional Safety Advisor for BG Northern, and a specialist auditor performing environmental assessments on BG’s national HQ sites. After this Martin joined a consultancy where he specialised in providing advice and training services for Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety Management Systems before joining Ocean in 2001.
Mutsuko FujineDirector / Country Manager - Japan / Lead Assessor
Mutsuko has worked for a number of major international Japanese companies, including the Sony Corporation and in 2001 was one of Ocean’s founding partners. Prior to this she gained significant experience in Quality, Environment and Occupational Health & Safety management systems, working initially as a translator and then as a lead tutor in the delivery of approved training courses. Mutsuko is a qualified Lead Assessor and is Ocean’s Japanese Manager.
Betty GuthrieAssessment Secretary
Betty is often the first and friendliest voice you’ll hear when you call us, always using her understanding and knowledge of the certification process to ensure that you receive the information you require from the best qualified member of the team as promptly as possible. As the newest member of the Ocean Team our Assessment Secretary works with the rest of the team to provide the best customer service, coordinate assessment visits and manage the post-visit processes.
David LoweryBusiness Development Manager / Lead Assessor
David has been with Ocean since April 2007 and may be your first point of contact with us. As Business Development Manager and qualified Lead Assessor he is well placed to answer all your queries and will provide you with a fast and competitive quotation.
David RobinsonManaging Director / Lead Assessor
David has over 30 years’ experience within the service and manufacturing sectors and is a qualified as a Lead Assessor in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and the National Highways Sector Schemes and with experience of assessing Building Information Modelling (BIM). When not assessing, David performs a number of roles at Head Office and has valuable industry sector experience. With first hand practical experience in quality, environment and occupational health & safety systems his friendly and assured style of auditing helps to foster a high level of customer satisfaction.
Kate is our financial controller ensuring that clients are invoiced promptly and that suppliers are paid in a timely manner. Kate is there to answer any financial or payment queries that organisations may have.
Judith GreenLead Assessor
Moving back to her native north east of England, Judith joined the Ocean Assessment Team after many years of compliance auditing to environmental and occupational health & safety standards in construction and related areas for Local Authorities. Judith has added valuable sector knowledge and experience to our assessment. Judith is ideally placed to carry out assessments as a Lead Assessor of integrated management systems within construction sector.
Carol StearneLead Assessor
Carol is a Chartered member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health CMIOSH. Having 30 years experience within the manufacturing sector and qualified as a lead assessor in ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001. Holding academic qualifications and relevant experience in the construction sector. Carol is as enthusiastic and proactive Health ,Safety and environmental practitioner with extensive knowledge of legislation and statutory standards.
Liam DonohoePAS 2030 Inspector
Liam facilitates the management and procurement services to small and medium size organisations including bid writing for OJEU compliant tenders and the planning and organising quality, environmental and health and safety management within organisations. Liam is also an Ocean lead assessor within the construction sector.
Jim McVeyPAS 2030 Inspector
Jim is one of our current PAS 2030 assessors and has academic qualifications and relevant experience in the construction sector and more especially energy efficiency within construction. Jim also has management experience and has dealt extensively with vulnerable households, including the resolution of complaints.
