The deadline is looming, by September 2018, ISO 9001:2008 will no longer be valid.

Technology, globalisation and customer’s expectations have all evolved since 2008 and the new standard helps businesses to ensure that they have in place the systems that take these into consideration.
The main differences
The key difference to the old standard is the overall structure of ISO 9001:2015.
So that management systems can be more joined up for businesses that have more than one, ISO 9001:2015 has adopted a “High Level Structure” so that it can integrate with others such as ISO 14001 (environment) and the new ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety that will replace OHSAS 18001).
Having the ability to integrate these systems will help businesses become even more efficient managing them and also help to reduce certification costs.
Increased focus has also been given on ‘risk based thinking’ to help organisations become more proactive in improvement, improve governance and compliance and help increase customer satisfaction.
